Welcome to my little spot in cyber-space. It’s filled with an accumulation of many of the ramblings I have written over the years that we have had children.

Before we had any kids we knew that we would take on the responsibility of their educations, so our journey has been one of conviction. However, it was also one of ignorance; we didn’t really know what we were doing. But we were eager to learn and we did a lot of reading, friend-watching, course-attending and materials-evaluating. Knowing that even with all the knowledge in the world we would not be fit for the task without the inspiration and leading of the Holy Spirit, we also did a lot of praying.
As He has led, we have stumbled down trails, run along others, taken diversions and sometimes just plodded along. All the while I have thought and prayed and considered and  evaluated and tried to find our family’s way through the maze of educational opportunities and life possibilities.

I still don’t have all the answers. I never will.
But people come to me for advice, thinking that I must have sussed it out if I a) have eight children and b) am educating them at home.
I am happy to help when I can, but I was finding I could not keep up with the requests, so I decided to use modern technology to share with a few more than I can personally meet with. Out of my incompleteness I offer you snippets of my journey so far in the hopes that it might help you in your own pilgrimage. Please don’t try to replicate what is working for our family, but take the time to ask God what He has planned for your family. If you don’t know God, start your search there. It’s all that matters.

Fear of the LORD is the foundation of true wisdom.
All who obey his commandments will grow in wisdom.
Praise him forever!
Psalm 111:10 (New Living Translation)

I’m so glad you’re writing again and have enjoyed reading through your posts – I’ve got lots of new ideas for next term. If you need any ideas for posts (and you probably have a backlog as it is) I would really like to know how you handle the internet and technology ie cellphones etc… do you let your children research on the net? I’ve been stung a few times googling innocent things and don’t like the thought that would happen to my children. God bless, and thanks for sharing your families journey. I feel really blessed.

Tara, I’ll tuck those questions away to deal with at some point. To be honest, this year’s writing has simply been a quick record of what we have done – no thought required at all;-)
